I'm listening to... the Nanny is on TV... if I were to listen to music
I would listen to this piece that is in my head that I don't know what
it is but I would go through my music until I figured it out. 16.
I'm wearing... ha. I'm a hotassmess....... adidas workout pants, weezer
t-shirt, an ancient interlochen sweatshirt from when my mom worked
there in '72, and fuzzy leopard print bedroom slippers. 17. I wish I was in... bed with someone cuddly. um did that just slip out? whatevs. 18. | omg little miss sunshine.
i want to have an intellectual debate with someone besides myself.
I love violin. Running is becoming fun. i think i might be getting sick.
| | |
| I'm going to Raleigh tomorrow afternoon to pick up Ara's bows, then
wait for 3 hrs... then pick up 2 of the four seasons artists (the two
women, which is cool because they seem cool). Four seasons week is
always fun but always disrupts the normal flow... good and bad. I need
the disruption.
I'm sort of not looking forward to going to Miami in about two weeks.
Okay, now that I've said that I can turn the beat around and make it a
positive experience!!! I love riding on a bus! I have an ipod! and I
can sleep! and play sudoku! aaaannnddddd.... drink. haha. Okay it'll be
fun, i just have to play this bach cantata 5 or 6 times (or
something??) and look fabulous for 5 days (it is actually on the
itenerary that we need to pay attention to our hygeine. I should
copy/paste it sometime, it's pretty funny. I've never been told to get
a facial before a tour. Wtf. singers!). At least there are other string
players going along.
Okay. Going to make a practice plan for the week, get my clothes out of the dryer, and get some sleeeeep.
p.s. I'm trying to be a big grown up. I hope it works.

| What a long day!!! ...
woke up at 7:30
practiced 9-11:40
Orchestra 12-1:30ish
then i ate, talked to my sister (rachel), got ready for my gig, got gas, stopped by school...
4:30-5:50, work (where i practiced for an hour)
6-7:30, quartet gig at rock springs
then i picked up a sub, came home and changed into work-out clothes
8:30 sextet warm-up, then coaching 9-10(:15... no, more like 25)
10:30-11:25, gym,
then i went to the grocery store and came home and started a load of laundry.
the amazing thing is i feel totally happy and fulfilled! I also played
the violin for about 8 hours today. That's a lot. I usually try to keep
it to 7. 9 hours and i'm wasted....
while i was working today, i had an interesting encounter. A man with a
full jewish traditional look going on (yarmulke, prayer shawl thing,
full beard) came in and said he wanted his piano tuned, but he lived in
brooklyn. I kind of laughed (nervously) and gave him nadi's card. I
asked if he wanted to look at any pianos, and he said "no... I just
want to feel their energy...." and gazed at the pianos thoughtfully...
then looked at the violins, marveling at the tiny ones. He seemed like
he was on some sort of spiritual high. He told me he was a healer, and
how different sounds can open and close different parts of the body
because of their vibrations. It was surreal. He was very calming to
talk to, though. He said he was originally from Australia. Now that I
think about it, i think this whole thing could have been a dream or i
was abducted by aliens. Dunno. **edit** I forgot! He talked about how
the music's affect on the listener has to do with the sensitivity of
the player! and how it all has to do with how sensitive the people are.
OOOoooOOooooo....
My social scene has really burgeoned lately. very interesting. Byron
told me that my personality is totally different ever since i dropped
my ed/teaching fellows stuff and i'm easier to be around because i'm
not always stressed out. Anyway, many interesting stories... it is so
nice to be living the life that i want and realizing my own goals and
enjoying things! The crap parts don't seem that bad any more.....
though i do need to find my fine arts funding board crap. OMG i can't
wait to be done with that! I'm an awful leader.
p.s. strong medicine is the lamest show on lifetime... unfortunately it
comes on after golden girls. GOTTA GO change a channel!!!

| My new favorite food is a salad of spinach, cucumbers, avocado, and
goddess dressing. My other favorite food is toast with earth balance
(it's like butter, only non-hydrogenated oils).
My current goal is to live in the moment and enjoy things as they happen. Even if they are unfavorable things.
I'm proud of myself.
I didn't practice for my viola lesson, which is at 10:30 tomorrow
morning. I think I'll just not worry about it, and see if Jorge wants
to talk about anything, and if not, go practice etudes.
People are beautiful.
My parents and sister are coming to town tomorrow because Rachel is
auditioning on Saturday. I hope she rocks it out. Lenny really wants
her to come here. I really want them to give her a lot of money,
because she could single-handedly ensure a pretty solid bass section
for the next four years.
I love DeVotchKa... A lot.
